Mentor Farmers' Market

The Mentor Farmers’ Market is planning to open on Saturday, May 24, 2014, outdoors in the east Mentor School yard with hours from 8 till noon.
It seems we have all been waiting and waiting for spring to arrive and it looks like the time has finally come. The Farmers Market will start the summer season in the east school yard location. Some of you may remember that this was the original site of the Market when it opened in 2008. We are back there now as it offers electrical hookups which some vendors are needing. The vendors are looking forward to the season and will provide local foods and goods every Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon from the Memorial weekend through September. Several vendors have high tunnels allowing early produce production. Lettuce, cucumbers, radishes and asparagus may be available as early as Memorial weekend, even with the relatively late spring. Throughout the summer, the market will provide a good variety of fresh produce, breads, lefse, jams, salsa, eggs, honey, donuts, baked goods, bagels, cheese, quality meats, jewelry, mosaics, wood crafts, American Girl doll clothing, weaving, live plants, night crawlers, local print t-shirts, and much more. We are pleased to announce that Erickson Smokehouse of Fertile will be there with the food truck to provide hot morning breakfast items, along with ready-to-heat, fully cooked ribs and brisket. The market members are very excited as the market continues to grow and fill the needs of their customers. Many exciting events are being planned to happen concurrently with the morning market. Several of the area car and tractor restorers will be displaying a favorite restored car or tractor of theirs right in the middle of the market space on various market days. There will also be some cooking and music events, hula hoops for kiddy (and adult) fun, and some surprises. Check the schedule on the market's website at www.localfoods.umn.edu/mfm for weekly updates and news. Also "Like" us on Facebook at Mentor Farmers Market for news, information and photos.
